Whenever I am looking up at the stars, I start wondering about the time when the human race would end up spreading across more planets throughout the universe. I love talking about the space and universe with the kids, I think most children find it fascinating to learn about what’s out there.
Anyone who is interested in space and humans venturing out there have surely heard about SpaceX, these guys have been working hard on making space travel a possibility.
I have been waiting for the Falcon Heavy launch for a bit and finally, it happened. After SpaceX had to cancel their launch due to weather conditions, on the 11th of April, they were able to successfully launch a big satellite (Arabsat-6A) into the orbit. This satellite will be providing communication services to the residents of Africa, the Middle East and some parts of Europe. It is always fascinating to see this happen, however, this was not the main event.
For the first time, SpaceX was able to retrieve all three rockets from the launch. The sight of the 2 side boosters landing first Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida is my favourite from the event, I found it pretty mesmerising. Later on, centre core landed successfully on the “Of Course I Still Love You” drone-ship in the Atlantic Ocean.
SpaceX has been on a mission to make space launches affordable. Their main focus has been to get the rocket’s to land back safely and then re-use them for more flights. They have certainly succeeded in making that happen, let’s hope they succeed on their mission to send the first manned mission to Mars.
