Touch the Sun is a make your own choice book by Emily Conolan. It’s about a boy and his sister Jamilah who are chased by al –Shabaab. Their parents die shortly after giving birth to Jamilah. They are born in Somalia and after their parents’ death are looked after their aunt Rahama who is a journalist. Aunt Rahama fakes her own death to save Jamilah and her brother. She loved a Somali- Australian named Aadan Williams. Jamilah and her brother risk their own lives to get to Aadan, a very kind man. They go to Nairobi by a carpet truck where they meet Sampson, they go to Dabaad- a place in the middle of a desert and then back to Nairobi- on foot- where Abshir (Aadan’s friend) is waiting for them. Then Abshir gives them to a people smuggler who takes them on a plane to Malaysia, then a boat to Indonesia where they are stuck for a while due to Jamilah’s tuberculosis and also meet Maryam and her husband, then they go on another boat to Australian where there is aunty Rahama and Aadan! They plan to have a baby and call him Zayd because he was always there when Rahama was in a coma.
