Week # 32

After a couple of weeks of break, we regrouped this Sunday for our session.

I started out by talking about oral communication and how I notice it’s decline. The kids prefer to talk to each other over their devices, however, sitting next to each other, they don’t seem to have much to say. We will figure out a way to make this situation better. The kids have to learn the art of small talk.

Continuing on the communication theme, we watched the next videos in the series.

The second video was specifically interesting as it introduces the idea of probability. We laid out some examples on the white-board where the more efficient method works equally, worse or better than the original method.

The core idea was to convey that it’s “likely” that the new method will work better, however, it won’t be the case in all situations.

We continued to talk with an example of the weather, where it’s possible that it would be 50C in Melbourne tomorrow. However, looking at the historic data narrows down our range.

We also explored the idea of theoretical vs practical probability as well where the practical outcomes might differ from the theoretical ones.

Blog Post

As we are getting closer to the holiday season, the kids must continue writing the weekly blog. Where they can continue writing about the books they are reading or worst-case scenario, write about their week.

For this week’s blog post, they need to talk about the steps they have taken to improve their relationship with their siblings. They can also talk about ways they will continue to work on it in the future.
