Australian Bushfires- how it’s affecting us and what we can do to help

Australian bushfires are destroying homes and killing animals everywhere in Australia. Scientists estimate that around half a billion animals have died to bushfires in 2020. Bushfires have killed many firefighters as well. They’ve killed many people and have brought ruin to our forests and ecosystems.

The consequences of bushfires

Around half a billion kangaroos, koalas and other animals have died to the bushfires that have been occurring this year. Not only have the animal’s been killed. But the forests have been destroyed and will take an extremely long time to grow back. Many firefighters have risked their lives and some have died to protect us. We’ve lost a lot, but what can we do to make things better?

How can we help?

There are many things we can do to help make things better. For example, we can donate to foundations who will plant trees or you can go outside and do it yourself. We don’t necessarily have to spend money either, you can always be cautious of not starting fires or littering in the forest, this will help decrease the number of bushfires that are occurring.
